Really simple patch. Cv from nlc sloth to quantizer (doepfer a-156), via attenuverter. Triggers from doepfer a-160(161). But a tone is only generated if there is a change in cv from sloth. Its not 100% generative :-) first there is no cv connected to the oscillators. I connect them one at a time. The noise is also controlled by the same sloth. The analog delay is connected to barton musical circuits (bmc) 4 quadrant multiplier and panner acting as a panner, controlled by nlc jerk off (still a sick name on a great module). The ehh drum sound is generated by bmc decaying analog noise.

Simple patch. Two oscillators, ring modulation, lfos, vcas and digital effects. No spring reverb this time. Important module is the clock divider. The oscillators where tuned to the same tone one octave apart. Well. . . Not exactly. After having recorded i measured the frequencies 228,8 hz and 117,7 hz. . . But that made the output from the ring modulator interesting. What is generative with this? i modulate amplitude of the sounds and the decay for all thee sounds. This also affects the rhythm sound.

It becomes clear when i record with audacity and can actually see the attack and decay. I’m playing with alm pip slope. With this module you can cv control the attack and decay. As oscillator i use intellijel μvcf in self-oscillation mode. I fm-modulate this filter/oscillator with a tone from uoki-toki polivoks vcf. The semi random trigger is really two triggers connected to an or gate. Pitch is from analogue systems rs-40 (sample/hold and noise). I can listen to this for a looong time. Retro sound.

Squeaking old office armchair. I have recorded this sound using my ipad 3, and software is dictaphone by alon software, version 1. 7. 6. Recording quality setting: normal. It was recorded at my office in mexico city, i was looking for a kind of similar sound at freesound. Org, and since i did not find anything related, i decided to make my own sound effect and my first upload to your web. I lowered the ipad in my hand under the chair and swayed back and forth three times to achieve the tone i considered efficient. Recorded: august 31, 2019.

Interesting (but painful) sounds made with a zoom h2 (front mics, low gain) connected to a laptop via usb. The signal was piped to old creative sbs250 spekers with 16ms of latency (i'm using jack audio connection kit and linux). That's how my feedback loop came into existance. I turned up the volume and started to move the mics around, geting a lot of different sounds ranginf from simple tones to strange lfoish sounds. The sound touches 0db one times, but is rather undistorted (at least digitally). Recorded with audacity @ 48khz/16-bit and saved as flac.

This is my recreation of the noise in the background of a video shot on a consumer grade minidv camcorder (a well used one). I haven't had a minidv camcorder on hand for a few years and nobody i knew would give me a recording of just tape motor noise so i went to create the noise myself. This sound is a combination of a very badly pressed dvd in my computer's drive mixed with a tone made in audacity (up one octave from the tone that the disc ended up creating), all mixed down and brought down in volume. I know it's not a prefect recreation, but i don't have a minidv camcorder on hand so this is about as good as i can get it. If anyone has access to an anechoic chamber, a fresh tape, and a well used consumer grade minidv camcorder, please get in touch with me. I'd like the real deal better than my recreation that i did in my spare time. Note on recreating the noise out of hdv camcorders. They have slightly different hardware and as such will create different bearing noise (most times, there's an extra whine on top of the familiar bearing whine heard from standard dv camcorders). I forget the exact frequency, but it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 840hz-860hz and it's a sort of sine wave, but a modest bit more jagged. You'll have to provide your own stock camcorder mic hiss as each camcorder is different (not for definite sure on sony camcorders, but canon camcorders have a pink-ish white noise in about that era).

Sound effect - bass rumble tension rise (wind river movie). I've looked for this particular bass tension builder sound effect from the movie wind river since it came out!! if you've seen that film and you're familiar with the "standoff" scene, then you'll probably know what sound effect im referring to. . . In the background of that most intense ever scene of all time is this bass rumble or tension builder that gives me goosebumps every time i watch it! i've wanted the original pretty bad because its the best suspense builder(bass rumble) sound ive ever heard! although it doesn't seem to exist online even for purchase. So i tried to recreate it myself! im a movie scene editor all the way, but im less than amature at audio editing, so please excuse the flaws. There are 3 versions in this mp3. Circle of 5ths loop compiled on a 2015 macbook pro using field recordings. Tempo / time sig:24 bars of 3/4 timing with each bar lasting 2. 5s. Or 12 sets of 6/8 at 5s per bar with a total length of 60s. Filters:hipass pumped at 60hz, -5db. Lopass pumped at 1200hz at -6db. Delay set to 0. 05s at 600hz with a 60% wet mix. Arranged with the tonic 5th as a constant with the last (fifth) 5th in the circle, starting and ending with the tonic. Second 5th enters in 5s, third in 15s and the fourth in 25s as the fifth stops. The fifth 5th begins to fade back in after 10s of silence, which begins the process of the second, third and fourth fading out in that order. The fifth 5th is at full volume as the loop turns, as is the tonic. The mood changes noticeably as each consecutive 5th begins, and changes again as the following 5th joins the loop.

Its a sine wave folded 4 times by a cgs inspired wavefolder module (kinda like the metalizer from the minibrute). The whole thing is then modulated with an external function generator that controls amount and frequency of modulation. This is what came out and it's pure junky drone noises, so goddamn nasty. Absolutely love them. Feel completely free to sample this and use it for your own purposes. This is a diy synthesizer i'm building and unfortunately it is still a prototype, but i'm gonna finish it soon and hope to sell it. Cool indeed, isn't it?.

This replica of my tinnitus was created using the free program called audacity. Http://audacityteam. Org/i had to generate 3 different 'tones' and combine them before i felt the high-ish noise was close to what i hear. I then had to search freesound for something that i only hear beneath the high pitch noise when my house is very quiet, which is something like the sound of strong wind outside a closed window or a power station a mile away. It took me a few hours, and even then i had to manipulate the sound considerably. Thanks to felix. Blume forhttp://freesound. Org/people/felix. Blume/sounds/167684/#commentsthis natural wind sound file was equalized and leveled several times, then the sound level was reduced to blend with the high pitch. But it still wasn't right. So, not being an expert with audacity, i just went down the list of 'effects', trying each one, until i found "paulstretch", which somehow increases the time length of your sound file, without stretching as in 'elastic', which would deepen the existing tones, and apparently, without copying and pasting. The sound does change somewhat, becoming just slightly ragged, but it's a very interesting effect for this application and actually got used on both elements to produce the final sound. . I hope no one enjoys this sound and can't imagine that anyone will. It makes me feel slightly sick. . Info edited 28 oct 2021: with my tinnitus at it's current level, i will never, now, be able to reproduce it again, primarily because i can't hear any sounds i create in a detailed way. And secondly, because hearing this version of the sound these days is just too uncomfortable. 🥲.

I wanted to create a sound that is scary. I was inspired by sounds for jumpscare sequences in horror movies. So here i generated an audio track and i added a « batterie risset » on it. It gaves a sound that sounds like a bell so i duplicated it 3 times more on 3 different audio tracks. Once done, i accelarated and turn up the volume on the second audio track a bit more compared to the first audio track. I repeated it on the 2 other tracks to give the impression that something is getting closer to us. After that, i generated a new audio track with a tone, i put it on overlap with the forth track and i highly turn up the volume to create a saturation in order to strongly surprise the listener. To finish, i checked that the final mixed track was not saturated, except the sequence i wanted to be saturated, and i exported the sound.

This is the audible annunciation found at all intersections with traffic lights in paris, france. It announces the condition of the traffic lights for pedestrians who are blind or with impaired vision. The annunciation is turned on by pressing a button on the traffic light pole. When the crosswalk sign is red (do not cross), the recorded annunciation is always "rouge piéton" ("red light, pedestrian"), followed by the name of the street that the crosswalk crosses (in this case "rue d'antin," the quiet side street where i recorded this). This repeats over and over until the crosswalk changes to green, at which point there is a two-second trill tone followed by a repeating bell tone. The bell tone is one bell, followed by two bells, repeated four times, followed by a very brief pause, and then the sequence is repeated again. This continues until the crosswalk changes back to red, at which point the "rouge piéton" message resumes. The annunciation continues for at least one cycle of the traffic lights and then stops, unless the button is pressed again. The audio quality of the annunciation is very poor even in real life (it sounds like a wax cylinder recording or something), and can be difficult to understand. This recording accurately captures the poor quality of the annunciation. The volume of the annunciation is also adjusted dynamically based on ambient noise, so there is a slight change in volume on this recording as the system apparently reacts to noise from traffic or something. There is a weak background noise that sounds like some sort of machine, but it wasn't coming from the traffic light and i don't know the source. The recording starts with the crosswalk red, then at about 18. 3 seconds it changes to green, then it changes back to red at about 53 seconds. A car passes at around 48 seconds. Recorded with a zoom h4n, stereo 96 khz / 24 bits, built-in mics, from about ten inches below the tiny speaker in the crosswalk sign housing.

A peaceful ambiance of some pine trees in early, early spring. The predominant, lower-pitched background is the strong south wind blowing through the tops of healthy pine trees. . . An unwavering "swooshing" that cuddles and curls around the flexible, thick-resin-filled pine needles. Also, from time to time, you hear the sound of the wind rattling some dead and brown oak leaves; oak leaves which are still stubbornly hanging on to their parent tree. I purposely did only a very bare minimum of post-processing on this sound so as to keep it as realistic as possible. Yes, there are quite a few wind rumbles that i toned down just a little bit. I did not totally get rid of the wind rumbles. I did this on purpose so you the true feeling of " being there " on that mild, but still raw cold day of spring could still be felt. At 4:35 into the soundscape the trilling of a pine warbler is heard---a warble of warm-sounding notes fighting back stubborn winter. At 9:33 that hardy year-round resident, black-capped chickadee starts tweeting about. Recording made on saturday march 25, 2023 using a sound devices mixpre-3 series ii and only one microphone. I used a sennheiser mkh 8070. Enjoy this soundscape of winter slowly losing its grip, as told by pine trees and brown, crackly oak leaves.

This is a recording of myself sleeping, beginning ~ 1:00 am local time (~ 3hrs after going to bed) on january 10th, 2020 (which i later discovered was a full moon). I was in the midst of experimenting with recording myself all night long out of curiosity, using a laptop placed near the head of my bed. This particular recording was the only anomalous one (the rest consisting mostly of just breathing or snoring with occasional sleep-talking). This ~2 hour recording has several interesting properties, which make it hard for me to believe that these sounds were actually going on while i was sleeping. On the other hand, i don't have a memory of editing this file if i did. Either way, i find it unsettling. I found the file in oct 2021 while organizing my samples. As far as i can remember, this is the original raw recording. On further inspection, i discovered that it has some additional peculiar properties that make it even harder to believe i could have made it without remembering doing so. The audio spans almost exactly 118min (7080s). There’s a frequency sweep with a cycle-length of 6480ms that repeats throughout the entire recording. Dividing the 118min by 6. 48min (60 cycles) results in 18 parts containing exactly 60 cycles and a remainder of 12 cycles. The new hope & ivyland railroad is located in new hope, pennsylvania, usa. Basically, it's a tourist railroad that gives visitors the experience of riding in an old fashioned train. You take a short trip out (too short in my opinion) and a short trip back to the station. Since i wanted clean sound, my wife decided to surprise me by paying for the private seats on the very back (outside) of the train. Think of old pictures of presidents waving from the rear of a moving train. . . That place!. So, with zoomh4n pro in hand, i recorded the entire trip from station to station. There's lots of good, old fashioned, clickity-clackity track in this one. A rarity these days as most tracks are now put down with out breaks for miles at a time. Enjoy!. Christopher.

It is also intended for the freesound sound museum to represent books as what is fading rapidly into obsolescence. By the time you read this, you may not even know what a books is. Books are when the written word is compiled onto sheets of paper in a long-form volume. You may not know what paper is. Paper is commonly used to write on or make oregano cranes with, being flat and thin rectangles made from trees. You probably won't remember what a tree was. That is a very sad thing. The sloth has two outputs x and y. I connected x to control frequency on one oscillator and y to control amplitude on another oscillator. Frequency experiment on left channel. Amplitude experiment on the right. The file starts as the amplitude is 0. Next time the amplitude is 0 (almost) is at about 48 sec. Then 48 sec later, at 1:37 the amplitude is 0 again. The two cycles are not identical. The tones are harder to analyze. . . X and y outputs. I guess those corresponds to x and y in a coordinate system.
